Giveaway!!!!

We've had an interesting turn of events.

And by we I mean me.

I've fallen in love.

With this 1948 Wee Wind.

And the 1955 Bubble.

And the '62 Bambi.

But mostly with the Wee Wind.

I want one.

And before we go any further,

let me answer all your questions.

You (or The Chief):  Lu, why do you need a restored Airstream Trailer?

Me:  I don't.

You (or The Chief):  What exactly would you do with a restored Airstream Trailer?

Me:  I have no idea.

You (or The Chief):  Then why on Earth do you want one?

Me:  Because I do.

So now that we've cleared that up,

I have to move forward with my plan.

My plan to get one.

A Wee Wind.

And then maybe a Bubble,

and to complete my collection,

a Bambi.

But I must

move carefully.

Strategically.

Stealthily.

Surreptitiously.

I've decided to start with a very bold gesture.

I figure that in order to show some

good faith

on my part,

I  should

do something

Practically Unheard Of.

Virtually Unthinkable.

Nothing Short of Unbelievable.

I'm giving away one of my

Texasware Bowls!

Yes!

One of my precious,

perfect,

beloved,

and utilitarian

Texasware Bowls!

To one of my readers!!!!!!!!!

It might be YOU!

Of course,

I may

or may not

have a totally selfish reason

for doing this.

I'll say to The Chief,

"Hey Chief, you know how you always want me to get rid of some of my bowls, because they take up all the space in the cabinets,

and because you think it's certifiably nuts that anyone could possibly collect  a gabillion Texasware Bowls,

and how you think that they all look alike anyway???

You, know?"

And The Chief will reply, "Yes."

And then I'll say,

"Well Chief, you'll be glad to hear that I'm giving away one of my bowls to a lucky Mudpuddle reader!"

And then he'll say,  "Well, good Lu."

And then I'll make my move.

And I'll say,

"So NOW can I have a Wee Wind?"

And he will politely excuse himself to his workshop

where he will think

logical,

practical,

engineering-type

thoughts

while trying to forget

I'm in the house

decoupaging

a huge photo of the

Wee Wind

to the front

of the refrigerator.

So here's all you have to do.

Right here,

in the comments section of the blog

answer this question:

"What do you collect?  And tell us why!

When you do,

you're entered to win this!!

It's a #118 official marked Texas Ware bowl!

And although it looks like the size of my bathtub in the picture,

it's about 10 inches across the top.

See.  Official.

I promise you, we're on the up and up around here.

It's in almost perfect condition.

I'll have Weegie draw a number to pick the winner!

No!!

The Chief!

He should be involved!

He always likes to be involved in all my stuff!

Really he does!!

Really.

Anyhoo - remember to enter you must comment here.

And even though you can still give a comment on FB,

not all of Mudpuddle's readers are on FB,

so I wanted everyone to have a shot at it!

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh,

and P.S.

If you win, I will send it to you all wrapped and safe (I'll pay postage).

I hope the winner doesn't live in Turkey or something.

Oh, and P.S. again

The winner will just need to sign and return the custody agreement I'll enclose,

which says that I will still have

visitation rights

to the bowl,

and that Me and the other Bowls

can just show up at any time

at your house

in your kitchen

to visit it.

JUST JOSHIN'!!

It will be yours.

All yours.

(But if you'd send me a picture each year

I'd really appreciate it!)

Thanks,

and GOOD LUCK!

Seriously? You are really giving up one of your Texas Ware bowls? Well, I must say I am saddened by this news, but I will definitely throw my name in the pool especially since I have a small but growing collection of Texas Ware bowls. Hey, if it will help you get your Wee Wind, I'm happy to take it off your hands! LOL!

Well well, I had hoped when you said a giveaway it would be liked cooked meals for a month but woooo a Texasware bowl. So here goes..
I collect mostly dust. The reason is can't seem to help it. I have tried for years not to, but it just comes back. I have some in every room of my house. And as God loves a cheerful giver I would cheerfully be happy to give some of my prize dust to any and everyone that would like some. No matter one's decor or color scheme it goes well in every room of your house!
Also should I be the winner of the famed Texasware bowl, I will put in a safe place, enclosed if you recommend so less dust.. and with all my cooking it will always be in like new condition! Not only can you come visit it at your hearts desire, you can borrow it.
And lastly, think how fabulous it would look with my new surprise cooktop!

PS.. you might want to mention to the chief once you are the owner of those 3 one of a kind restored air stream beauties that would decorate them with some of your collection of fine quality Texasware bowls thereby making more space in the cabinets.
Hope to be the winner!
Cindy

I collect SPAM (the luncheon meat...not unwanted emails). Why?

1) Because I can.

I have a LARGE collection of clear glass snack sets (you know, the little plates that have a place for the cup). I use them for luncheons and showers and have loaned them out to church and women's groups. I always wonder what women in the 1950s and 1960s proudly used them for their luncheons or teas. Lots of stories in these plates!

Oh no! Giving away your bowls?! May I suggest a nice but eccentric lady who would love to own one of Lu's famous bowls!? She is a collector of many different things, she has a mix match collection of what her husband calls "clutter". Haha! Really though, if I was the lucky one to win, I would take good care of it but use it frequently.
I do have two other collections but not for the kitchen, I collect wolf figurines and Painted Ponies (the southwest/indian ones). Wolves have alway intrigued me, they are such an elusive creature but as a pack live in a family unit. I had a horse when I was younger hence the ponies and the SW/Indian ones for the Native American Indian and what they endured. Always had a soft spot for them as a whole race.

P.S. I think your "new" collection is really cute!

I also would love to have the '62 Bambi. My BFF turned me on to them last year, cleverly suggesting that we go in together and decorate it up JuNk GyPSy style and use it on our travels to Canton and other places we like to junk and shop. But, since most of my weekends in the summer are dedicated to cooking and feeding cowboys and my beautiful Grandchildren, I can't see me having the time to invest and haul around one of these beauties. Plus, I would have to listen to my husband complain about where we would park it. Suggesting that parking it at BFF's house, would just bring about more ideas as to why it would be a collasal pain in the you know where. Since I do spend so much time mixing, chopping and serving out of my beloved Texas Ware bowls, I can always use more. Plus, I do not have one in this color!!! Your bowl would have a hallowed place in my stack, it be loved, cherished and never put in the dishwasher!! Thank you for the chance to love another TW bowl!!

Well Luann, as you probably know, I collect books. I love the feel of a book in my hands, the sound of turning pages as I read, the texture of the different types of paper. I read them and re-read them. Mostly non-fiction is in my collection although a few novels have found their way there. While most of my books are contemporary - "how to do it better" kinds of books (you know, how to organize better, how to lead better, how to build a better organization, how to train employees better, how to raise children better, how to teach better... you get the idea...) - a few of my books are antiques... Like an OLD OLD Charles Dickens book purchased at The Old Curiosity Shop in London, and an 80 year old Mother Goose... you get the idea.
All of this reading has left me sorely inept in the kitchen. So... my idea fits right in with yours - if I win the bowl, maybe YOU and YOUR BOWLS with come for bi-annual visitation and COOK FOR ME!!!! Think how much BETTER I would eat! And how happy your bowls will be to see my bowl and work side-by-side with it. Or then maybe, just maybe, your bowl will release the cooking genie and I will suddenly become as good of a cook as the bowl's previous owner!

I would LOVE a Texasware bowl! Seriously, it would never ever serve as a "garbage bowl"...I promise! And when it isn't being used for mixing or serving, it will be ON DISPLAY, and of course, I will tell EVERYONE how I obtained it and then I will have to tell them all about one of the coolest friends EVER! Oh the stories I will tell....
Yes, I am a collector. I collect Mason Holder pottery from Price, Texas. I use it EVERY holiday and at family dinners. I have a wonderful collection of Dickens Village Christmas houses -all retired pieces. My grandchildren love it. I had a collection of the state quarters but I ultimately cashed them in to buy "trees" for my Christmas Village. Oh well....
I might end this by telling you our dream is to cash everything in and buy one of those silver airstreams...but I assure you that the Texasware Bowl will travel with us!!!! Love you Lu!!!

I collect:
Nativity sets - probably about 300+ of them
Coors Rosebud - haven't bought any in a VERY long time, but there is nothing quite as exhilarating (okay, I don't know how to spell) as finding a piece for $5 in perfect location in some junky barn
Memorialbilia - (did I tell you I can't spell) I have EVERY report card of my children, every card they gave me and every rose petal from every flower Bryan gave me when we were dating

NOW GIVE ME MY FIRST PIECE OF TEXAS WARE SO I CAN START COLLECTING TEXAS WARE!!!!

I am a huge collector of all things primitive and all things from general store. So i will tell you about my wonderful collection of wooden ware bowls, just so we can stay in the bowl family. They are wonderfully wooden, wonderfully used and are a different well loved color on the outside, some have cracks that are patched on the out side with wonderful pieces of metal. All stacked lovingly on my table. I do not have a texas ware bowl so that would be a new begining collection which is always such fun! So go get a WEE Wind!! Phyllis

Well, first off let me say I love the bowl and I could keep it on my desk during the week. You could visit it each week you come to work. I would take it home on weekends to use it. I collect Willow Tree figurines. I love them.

I collect many things: antique maps, atlases, globes & Reindeer ornaments. One of my maps is from the 1400's. I really shouldn't collect the Reindeer ornaments anymore because I haven't put up an indoor tree in years because of Jonesy.

I used to collect bookends and candle holders -- not sticks!

If I get one more cat, they would qualify as a collection. Somehow, I think others might call is hoarding. 4 cats is almost normal. Once you get 5 you have crossed some invisible line. My vet told me "your family is complete."

I really, really need to win this bowl so I can start a new collection.

Weegie -- Listen up. You know me. I not only would let Lu visit the bowl, but you could sleep in my bed. Also, I would lock the cats up. They really don't do much anyway. So let's plan our playdate.

I have several collections: NATIVITIES (but I only have 50 or 60 of them so Mona beats me there) ANTIQUES Teacups/Dessert Plates/Hats/Gloves and Purses/Jewelry and Snack Sets (the ones with grapes; I have a large collection and 2 punch bowls to match)/Tea Cart & more! All of these are "old" and because my husband was not so crazy about my antique collection I recently packed it up and moved them to my Colorado basement. Please do not think they are still packed away; you must join me for tea in the basement that some would call a den/kitchenette/spare bedroom but I call it My Tearoom! My most unique and favorite collection is EGGPLANTS. I have 4 very dear friends who also collect them. I met these 4 ladies when we lived in Colorado in 1997 and to this day we continue to meet for "Eggplanter" reunions. I am not at liberty to share "why" we call ourselves "Eggplant Mama" or "Eggplant Princess" etc. because if I did they would have to kill me! My collection includes but is not limited to: Glass; Wooden (painted with eyes & mouth to look like a person with little legs that look like raisins & hang over the edge of the shelf); cutting board; butter dish; jelly jar; dish towels; baking dishes; teapots; mugs; trivets; chopsticks; knife rests for place settings; pitcher; s&p shakers; etc. This collection is proudly displayed in the stairwell leading down to the "tearoom" basement! And, yes Luann....Chet I'm sure would LOVE for me to start a new collection (not!) but oh well....he's been married to me for almost 30 years now and he loves me unconditionally--collections and all :)

Well, my collection is so multifaceted I don't even know where to begin.

First, I collect cobwebs in my brains. I tried collecting my thoughts, but that took too much effort. I found cobwebs much easier to collect.

Second, I seem to have started a new collection. I collect college graduates who live with their mother. Enough said there.

Third, I collect single socks. I've been collecting them for years. I have quite a collection.

Fourth, I collect dull knives. I've got drawers full of them.

Fifth, I collect old spices (not the cologne, or the hot guy on the horse) I'm talking basil, rosemary, and lots and lots of rubbed sage and poultry seasoning.

But my best collection is my friends. That sounds sappy. But it's true. And I count you as one.

In honor of you, I wrote you a poem (really hoping to sway you in my favor and get that bowl in my kitchen because I LOVE it and covet it everytime I see one on your blog)

My MudPuddle Friend

I have a friend who lives in a mudpuddle
she lives there in the nude
She writes with wit and whimsy
of life and love and food

Her heart is filled with laughter
her cupboards are never bare
They're filled with magic goodness
a treasure called Texasware

The feel of it makes her giddy
she'd sleep with it if she could
But the Chief would put his foot down
and say, "Lu, this ain't good."

So she keeps it in her kitchen
and visits it day and night
It's never far from her heart and mind
tucked safely out of sight

But now she has a new love
A Wee Wind has her heart
And her Texasware, though still a friend
may soon have to depart.

But never fear, "O Texasware"
you'll always be a friend
She'll share the kitchen and the cabinets there
inside her new Wee Wind.

Much love my friend. Now send me that damn bowl.

Oh, my gosh....a poem about you...a very well written poem!!!!! I think I would have to give up the bowl to her if I had won it myself!

I think it is time to announce "No more calls we do have a winner!" Carol that was awesome

Judi said...

GREAT poem Carol....you over achiever you!
BUT...LU, I REALLY want that bowl! REALLY!

Carol Jones said...

THere once was a bowl on a shelf
And I wanted it for myself
Then I learned with a sigh
That my chances weren't high
As my name must be drawn by an . . .elf?

Sorry, limericks aren't my thing. But I really ReALLY want the bowl. I long for it. I can hear it calling me. It's getting kinda creepy really.

Marcia Masters said...

You know how to get us lurkers come out!
I WANT the bowl.

What do I collect? Graphics; probably spent more than a thousand dollars on them plus spend my computer time visiting with other graphaholics.

Enjoy your site when I remember to visit. Tell the Chief "hi".
